Scientific learning about the brain and how it influences the thinking processes about conflict has increased significantly in recent years. How this new information impacts the conflict process is the purpose of this workshop. “Conflict resolution is an art not a science” is something conflict resolution trainers and practitioners often say. This workshop will explore this exciting new arena of the science in order to better understand the art. This new arena gives us a chance to understand the science of conflict resolution and how we can use this learning to encourage cooperation, collaboration and finding common ground. The presenters will review recent findings that impact our work as conflict resolvers and help translate the science into the practical application of the art in the area of facilitating meetings and building effective relationships. For example, learn what to do to help the brain move from one that is not cooperative to one that is cooperative. Participants will be able to participate it the discussion and practice of many new ideas.
