The Past, Present, and Future of Special Education Advocacy (4.2)

Over nearly five decades, special education advocacy has evolved alongside major social and political shifts. This interactive session invites participants to explore how advocacy has shaped the past, defines our present, and will determine the future of special education systems. Through facilitated discussion and reflection, participants will examine pivotal federal events—from landmark legislation and court rulings to recent structural shifts —and consider their implications for family engagement, dispute resolution, and advocacy.
