Joy Bux

Joy has been a Parent Mentor at the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL) since the Project began in 2004. In this role, she strives to strengthen communication and collaboration between home and school by facilitating trainings, providing technical assistance on the special education process, and offering different perspectives to both parents and educators. Joy participated on the IL State Board of Education Task Force for Accessible Parent Special Education Materials and on the Parent and Educator Partnership Curriculum Development Team. In addition to training parents and educators within the SEDOL cooperative, she has presented at the IL Statewide NCLB Conference, the Midwest Principals’ Center, the Great Lakes School Conference, and the Illinois Council for Exceptional Children Conference.
