Jeannette Mejias directs SPAN’s SEVA (Special Education Volunteer Advocates) project.  She also serves as a statewide bilingual coordinator on SPAN’s Family to Family Health Information Center and a bilingual trainer on SPAN’s PTI.  Mejias is a graduate of the Association of Maternal and Child Health (AMCHP) Family Scholar program and of the NJ LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities) program as a Family Scholar.  She is a Family Liaison for the Friends of the National Center for Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities.  Mejias started at SPAN as a Family Resource Specialist, providing individual assistance, coaching, and support to families of children with disabilities and special healthcare needs.  She has also served as the Project Director for SPAN’s collaboration with Children’s Specialized Hospital’s Quick Peek Community Screening Initiative, as the Family Resource Specialist Coordinator for SPAN’s State Implementation Grant focused on empowering immigrant families of children with special needs.
